At the beginning of the summer term, the City of Cologne, the International Offices of the Cologne universities and the Kölner Studierendenwerk invite all new foreign students and visiting academics to the Historic City Hall of Cologne.
The reception begins on Thursday, 9th April 2026 at 4 p.m. with an official welcome on behalf of the City of Cologne and a representative of the Cologne universities, followed by a "come together" in the atrium with information stands and a light snack. The international guests will have the opportunity to get informed at numerous stands - e.g. the international university groups and communities, and the Cologne Student Union - about the offers specifically for foreign students.
Right before the reception, we offer newcomers the chance to get to know Cologne better during a guided city tour (German or English). Registration is necessary.
