Are you interested in a room in one of our dormitories or an apartment? Apply directly via our online application portal. We will register your request there and send you suitable offers as soon as a place becomes available.
Those who are enrolled at one of the following universities in Cologne are entitled to live here. Interns who are enrolled at a university outside Cologne and are doing a study-related internship here are also welcome. There is no legal claim to any of our rooms.
The application for our dormitories is done online:

When you apply, you can indicate which university you are studying at, which type of accommodation you would like, when you would like to move in and the maximum amount you can pay. However, you cannot apply for specific residence halls. The dormitory places will be allocated. If you would like to study in Cologne, send in an application for a dormitory place as early as possible so that you can appear in our system. Ideally, you should apply one or two semesters before the beginning of your studies. You will only have to present a certificate of enrolment from your university when you sign the tenancy agreement.
In order to ensure that only students who have not yet been given a room are considered in the allocation process, we will send you a request e-mail every 30 days. You should confirm the link in the e-mail within five days if you are still interested in student accommodation. Without a confirmation, your application will be deactivated.
As soon as a dormitory place is available that matches your information, we will send you a room offer by e-mail. If you reject an offer of a room more than three times, you will unfortunately no longer have a chance to get a place in a residence hall from the Studierendenwerk. Therefore, please contact our staff before you reject a room offer if you are unsure or have questions.
We do not have an applicant list with numbered places. Your wishes will be taken into account when allocating rooms. Criteria such as the distance from your home, parenthood or participation in exchange programs increase your chances of getting a place in a dormitory. The waiting period can vary. It depends on the demand and availability of rooms.
The following groups of students will be given preferential treatment in the allocation of accommodation:
You both have to submit an application and inform us (informally by e-mail or phone) that you want to live together in a share.
You can pick up the keys for your room at the office in your dormitory building. When you receive your tenancy agreement you will also receive the document "Office Hours" and in it you will be informed when and where exactly you can pick up your keys.
