Extension of BAföG entitlement for another semester
You can take a deep breath, because Minister Karliczek of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has clarified in her decree that BAföG recipients have clarity and planning security in the current exceptional situation. To the message of the BMBF.

Like the two previous semesters, the summer semester 21 does not count towards the regular study period due to the Corona pandemic. This means that your regular period of study will be extended by another semester - and so will your BAföG entitlement!

You are not alone - our BAföG colleagues will help you through the crisis!

Does the Corona pandemic and the postponement of the 2021/22 winter semester affect my BAföG?

No, as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research has announced by decree, the postponement of the start of lectures does not affect BAföG entitlement in any way. Students (regardless of whether they are freshmen or already in financial aid) do not have to worry that they will not receive any money in or for October 2021. Self-study and online study also count as a study activity. Check with our Student Financing department for more information. It is important to note that the BAföG application must be submitted in October 2021 at the latest if you have not yet received a BAföG notification for the winter semester 2021/22.

Consultation appointments for BAföG exclusively by mail
Do you have questions about student financing or your BAföG application? Send us your request exclusively by e-mail to bafoeg@kstw.de - please always include your telephone number and grant number. If you do not yet have a grant number, please be sure to state the university at which you are studying. This is the only way we can correctly assign your mail. Your BAföG advisor will then arrange a telephone appointment with you to discuss your wishes and questions.

The advantage: Thanks to the new flexible office hours, you will receive an answer more quickly. This means that you are no longer dependent on fixed office hours, but have the opportunity to take advantage of our advice throughout the week.
