How and where to apply

German students apply at Student Registry Offices or at ZVS in Dortmund www.zvs.de

European citizens (from Member States of the European Union) address themselves directly to ZVS in Dortmund for all ZVS subjects. For all other subjects students address themselves to the International Office of the university (Akademisches Auslandsamt) or rather to uni-assist for the University Of Applied Sciences Of Cologne (Fachhochschule).

Non-european citizens with foreign 'university-entrance diploma' (Abiturzeunis) apply to the International Office of the current university for non ZVS-subjects. Two exceptions are the University Of Applied Sciences Of Cologne and the University for Music And Dance (Musikhochschule) applications are checked in advance by uni-assist.
At the University Of Applied Sciences only one masters programme (Masterstudiengang) is excluded from this application procedure. For all other courses like Design, for instance, students have to pass an aptitude test in advance.
